A Dose of Reality
Reflections on the 2020 Elections and January 6, 2021
Common sense and statistics will tell you there is no way that a virtually non-existent candidate who drew virtually no one to the rare campaign events he held, and whose opponent routinely drew tens of thousands, could get more votes than Obama. It is impossible.
There is more than enough evidence to show massive problems with absentee and drop-box voting in multiple states and key districts. Instead of investigating them and taking those complaints seriously, they were glossed over and those saying anything were labeled as crackpots.
Pres. Trump's belief that the election was invalid are well-founded despite attempts by the left to cast them as the ramblings of crackpots. The concerns about the validity of the election and vast election fraud MUST be fully vetted if we are to trust elections in the future.
Unless they are afraid of the findings of a real investigation, shouldn't Biden want to remove any doubt about the validity of the 2020 election?
We as a people must continue to DEMAND a full investigation of the election by a special commission -- not members of Congress. We must provide it with all the tools needed and a special prosecutor with the power to arrest and put people in jail.
I want to believe in the integrity of our electoral system again. THAT is an integral requirement of a representative democracy.
The events of January 6, 2021, was a warning shot across the bow of the Washington elites. They are right about one thing -- it was a very explicit threat to their power - to the swamp. But it was just a warning. The protestors of January 6 were not armed. It was NOT -- despite their best efforts to paint it as one -- an insurrection.
If that warning isn't listened to, the next time those people come to DC they WILL come armed and that is a something no one wants to happen.
How do we fix it? How do we step back from the precipice?
Simple... take their concerns seriously. Let them know their (and my) concerns are being investigated honestly and if found valid appropriate actions will be taken.
Do what is needed to truly restore confidence in our election system. Get rid of internet-based voting. Go back to paper ballots. Go back to in-person voting (perhaps on a Saturday). And most of all, require voter IDs for ALL voters, and all voters MUST be registered at least six months prior to the election, with only citizens allowed to vote.
